Tom Roussey, a friend from my Maryland days who I don’t see nearly enough, is a news reporter at the CBS affiliate in Charlotte, North Carolina. Tom’s current beat is politics, and he has started a blog at Campaign Carolinas where he covers both local and national races.
When both presidential primaries came to the Carolinas in the past two weeks, Tom secured brief chats with a couple of the candidates on the issues of immigration, the war, and road construction. Fred Thompson, Mike Huckabee, and John Edwards gave campaign boilerplate answers. Ron Paul was classic Ron Paul, and my second favorite interview. My favorite is Tom’s John McCain interview, where my friend briefly became the target of McCain’s legendary temper for daring to ask about immigration. Tom writes about the experience here.
Ladies and gentlemen, the GOP frontrunner.
