Pittsburgh’s mayor, Luke Ravenstahl, is twenty-seven years old. He’s been mayor since September 2006, when he assumed office upon the death of incumbent mayor Bob O’Connor. He won his first seat on city council in January 2004 at age 23 and became city council president in December 2005 (age 25), which put him in line for the mayor’s office. Because he’s filling someone else’s unexpired term, Ravenstahl has to face a Democratic primary this May and a general election this November if he wants to remain in office until 2010. I for one hope he makes it.
The guy did have a head start in life—his dad is a local judge—but man that’s precocious. I’ve really been wasting my time….
