The lastest Pew survey indicates that those born 1977 and later are more likely to describe themselves as “atheist, agnostic, or professing no religion” than any other generation in America. As compared to folks in my generation (I’m 1977 on the dot), 19 percent of whom said they had no faith, 14 percent of Gen Xers (1965-76), 11 percent of Boomers (1946-64), and only 4 percent of those born prior to 1946 said they were not religious. Why is it people my generation are leaving church? Has it failed them in some way? And if so, how does it win them back? Or is that even possible?
