Hall of Fame wide receiver Lynn Swann is investigating a run for the Pennsylvania statehouse. Swann, who lives in the Pittsburgh suburb of Sewickley, filed papers with the state Department of Elections to create Team 88, a campaign committee named after his number with the Steelers. This allows him to raise money for a potential run in the Republican gubernatorial primary next year. Though Swann’s public comments on the issue remain elusive, one political commentator said “this is a candidacy in the making.” Two other GOP hopefuls are already in the race, including William Scranton III, son of the former governor.
I think this is awesome. There needs to be more former Steelers in public office. Can you imagine this guy as Secretary of Defense? Look out Osama!
